  • Drug Overdose Facts
  • Around 10 percent of 9 to 10 year olds in the U.S. have started drinking alcohol.
  • The drug overdose epidemic is centered in middle-aged America; because this particular population is "not supposed to abuse drugs"; the media virtually ignores this dire situation.
  • Acetaminophen is metabolized solely by the liver, so there is a risk of fatal overdose due to hepatotoxicity when someone takes too much Vicodin.
  • GHB is being marketed in England as an antigen medicine that is said to increase the libido, aid in alcohol withdrawal, and induce sleep.
  • Individuals who make Ecstasy can add anything they want to the drug, so its purity is always in question.

Co-Occurring Mental with Substance Abuse Issues

Persons with co-occurring mental and substance abuse disorders must address both issues in order to become fully rehabilitated. Some individuals take drugs to relieve symptoms of mental health disorders, and some people take drugs which then, in turn, causes symptoms which mimic mental health disorders, such as depression and anxiety. Addiction rehabilitation professionals know how to differentiate between the two, and can work with clients to correctly treat real mental health conditions in tandem with any other substance abuse treatment that is done with the individual. This has proven to be effective in keeping individuals with mental health issues off of drugs and alcohol and mentally stable and productive.
