  • Individuals whose clinic gives them enough methadone to last one week, or even up to one month, commonly sell their excess prescribed methadone on the street in the illicit drug market.
  • An overdose from amphetamines is generally characterized by symptoms such as a rapid heartbeat, muscle cramps, seizures, psychosis, paranoia, and confusion, loss of motor control movement, lack of consciousness, cardiac arrest, and death.
  • Ambien addiction may result if the user begins taking it improperly, which can include crushing the pill and swallowing it, crushing and snorting it, or melting it down for injection.
  • An OxyContin addiction is extremely expensive, making it not an uncommon practice for teens to turn to stealing to support their habit.

Residential Short-Term Treatment that is 30 days or less

Residential short-term treatment for substance abuse is a type ofrehabilitation program where the individual will stay at the facility on an inpatient basis, and which usually requires a stay of 30 days or less. While in residential short-term treatment the recovering addict undergoes an intensive but short duration of treatment that commonly includes a supervised detox, counseling, and other forms of therapy which are aimed at helping the person to recover and be able to function without drugs in everyday life once treatment is complete. Residential short-term treatment is not always effective for all scenarios of addiction, and most will require an aftercare program or further treatment in a more long-term residential facility.
