  • Drug Overdose Facts
  • Recently in the state of California, drug overdose deaths have raised dramatically, according to many recent news reports. In one instance, a 19-year old Army recruit, who had just recently passed his military physical, took a handful and Xanax and went out drinking with several friends; this person did not ever get the opportunity to serve in the military, as he was subsequently found dead in his vehicle the next morning.
  • Ecstasy can be purchased readily in any part of the country for anywhere from $5-20 per tablet.
  • Individuals who have used Oxycontin with a prescription for legitimate use may not even realize that they are experiencing withdrawal when they stop using the drug, and many report thinking that they just have the flu.
  • Ecstasy use is particularly common in the gay community for example, where individuals will typically use the drug in combination with other illicit or prescription drugs such as marijuana, cocaine, methamphetamine, ketamine, Viagra, etc. as part of a multi-drug experience.
  • In 2009 it was estimated that 25% of those living with HIV in the U.S. reported the use of alcohol or drugs at a level that warranted drug rehab treatment.

Dui/Dwi Offender Programs

DUI/DWI offenders are usually required to participate in a specific number of hours either in counseling, meetings or a substance abuse rehab program. Each state has its own requirements when it comes to retribution for the DUI/DWI offender. Offenders who are deemed low to moderate DUI/DWI offenders will typically engage in some form of group counseling or therapy. These group meetings are typically held by a professional in the field of addiction recovery or a person with long-term sobriety involved in the Alcoholics or Narcotics Anonymous groups. DUI/DWI offenders considered to be serious offenders will likely have to serve jail time at a minimum before beginning their mandatory counseling or substance abuse rehabilitation program.
