  • Drug Overdose Facts
  • Compared to non-users, students who use prescription drugs non-medically are more likely to meet criteria for dependence on alcohol and marijuana, skip class more frequently, and spend less time studying.
  • Females who start dieting in sixth grade are more likely to abuse alcohol later in life.
  • After the beginning of alcohol withdrawal, symptoms may worsen within 48-72 hours and can even continue to plague the individual for weeks.
  • Because individuals cannot naturally produce the feelings which the body registers as rewarding after taking Adderall, the drug can become an addiction because the individual wants to experience these feelings again and more often.
  • Many senior citizens who take medications for chronic pain will forget that they have already taken the potent pain medicines; in many of these instances, these elderly individuals will experience a potentially deadly drug overdose as a direct result of their memory lag.

Residential Short-Term Treatment that is 30 days or less

Residential short-term treatment for drug or alcohol addiction is a variety oftreatment program where the individual will remain at the facility on an inpatient basis, and which typically demands a stay of 30 days or less. While in residential short-term treatment the client undergoes an intensive but short duration of treatment that usually includes a supervised detox, counseling, and other forms of therapy which are aimed at helping the individual to recover and be able to function without drugs in everyday life once rehab is complete. Residential short-term treatment is not always effective for all scenarios of addiction, and most will require an aftercare program or additional treatment in a more long-term residential setting.
