  • Drug Overdose Facts
  • Chronic methamphetamine users often experience mental depression associated with withdrawal that lasts longer than the short-term symptoms and is more severe than that of cocaine withdrawal.
  • Alcohol has only two fewer calories than fat, which has nine per gram.
  • High doses of crystal meth can produce such effects as increased heart rate, severe hyperthermia (high body temperature), paranoia, and stroke, often resulting in death.
  • Heroin exerts its effects on the brain more quickly than other opiates, which is probably why many opiate addicts prefer heroin.
  • A crack rock acts as a local anesthetic which numbs the tongue or mouth when it is directly placed in such an area.

Residential Short-Term Treatment that is 30 days or less

Residential short-term treatment for drug or alcohol addiction is a variety ofrehabilitation program where the individual will remain at the facility on an inpatient basis, and which normally demands a stay of 30 days or less. While in residential short-term treatment the recovering addict undergoes an intensive but short duration of treatment that usually incorporates a supervised detoxification, counseling, and other forms of therapy which are aimed at helping the individual to recover and be able to function without drugs in everyday life once rehabilitation is complete. Residential short-term treatment is not always effective for all scenarios of addiction, and most will need an aftercare program or additional treatment in a more long-term residential setting.
