  • Drug Overdose Facts
  • Individuals who are tobacco dependent are four times more likely than the general population to be alcohol dependent.
  • In certain people, an interaction that could result in a potentially fatal overdose can take place when alcohol is mixed with cough medicines that contain dextromethorphan; unfortunately, there is no possible way to predict who will experience this particular, life-threatening interaction, and who will not.
  • In 2007, nearly 64% of the inhalant drug rehab admissions were men.
  • As of 2010, 8.1% of 8th graders, 5.7% of 10th graders, and 3.6% of 12th graders had abused inhalants at least once in the year prior to being surveyed.
  • Nausea can be an extremely dangerous drug overdose symptom, because many people have died from breathing vomit into their lungs (aspirate).

Dui/Dwi Offender Programs

DUI/DWI offenders are typically required to participate in a certain number of hours either in counseling, meetings or a drug or alcohol rehab program. Each state has its own requirements when it comes to sentencing for the DUI/DWI offender. Offenders who are deemed low to moderate DUI/DWI offenders will typically be required to participate in some form of group counseling or therapy. These are sometimes referred to as "Level I & Level II Alcohol Classes". These meetings are often held by a professional in the field of addiction recovery or a person with long-term sobriety involved in the Alcoholics or Narcotics Anonymous groups. DUI/DWI offenders deemed to be serious offenders will likely have to serve jail time at a minimum before beginning their mandatory counseling or alcohol treatment program.
