  • Drug Overdose Facts
  • Individuals who inject OxyContin put themselves at risks of exposure to life threatening illnesses such as HIV, Hepatitis B and C, and other blood-borne viruses.
  • While a large percentage of people who have had a drug overdose have been reported to recover without experiencing any long term health effects, many of these cases have resulted in death.
  • Individuals who use crack may experience acute respiratory problems, including coughing, shortness of breath, and lung trauma and bleeding.
  • The misuse of prescription medications is most commonly reported to be unintentional; accidental overdoses generally result from the particular drug being overly prescribed or due to the unwitting ingestion by young children.
  • Crack is a Schedule II substance under the Controlled Substances Act. Schedule II drugs have a high potential for abuse, dependence and addiction and are illegal, and includes drugs such as PCP and methamphetamine.

Men Only

Drug rehab programs created solely for men are emerging across the nation. Although programs that work with both men and women are still the standard for drug and alcohol rehabilitation, many rehab centers are providing programs designed to help a particular target group. These centers are able to focus on what their client's individual needs are in a way that standard facilities cannot provide. Although these specialized types of rehabilitation programs are not needed for all recovering addicts, many men are deciding on men-only addiction rehabilitation centers. This recovery option is best suited for those who feel more comfortable with those of the same sex when sharing private and often difficult memories from the past. Recovering from addiction is a difficult process for every addict and finding comfort among one's peer group is a very good way of receiving the support needed to make the process that much more endurable.
