  • Drug overdose deaths in the United States have historically been linked to urban areas; according to recent government statistics, the rate of drug overdose deaths in rural areas throughout the U.S. has increased dramatically.
  • Individuals who begin taking Dilaudid for a legitimate ailment may then build a tolerance to the drug and have to take more and more it and ultimately become addicted.
  • Animal studies have concluded that exposure to high doses of Ecstasy for 4 days produced brain damage that could still be seen 6 to 7 years later.
  • Current research that was conducted by the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) has reported that drug overdoses are reported to be the principle cause of death in long term substance abusers.

Dui/Dwi Offender Programs

DUI/DWI offenders are typically required to participate in a specific number of hours either in counseling, meetings or a substance abuse rehabilitation program. Each state has its own requirements when it comes to sentencing for the DUI/DWI offender. Offenders who are regarded as low to moderate DUI/DWI offenders will typically engage in some form of group counseling or therapy. These are sometimes referred to as "Level I & Level II Alcohol Classes". These meetings are usually held by a professional in the field of addiction recovery or a person with long-term sobriety involved in the Alcoholics or Narcotics Anonymous groups. DUI/DWI offenders considered to be serious offenders will likely have to serve jail time at a minimum before beginning their mandatory counseling or substance abuse treatment program.
