  • Drug Overdose Facts
  • Four percent of high school seniors in the U.S. have abused OxyContin at least once in the past year.
  • Five to seven cocktails over the course of four to six hours will generally cause a hangover for a light-to-moderate drinker, but may take more for heavier drinkers due to a higher tolerance.
  • Heroin is a highly addictive opiate drug which can be injected, smoked, and is sometimes inhaled.
  • Because Dilaudid is a potent narcotic, it is often called "drug store heroin" by illicit street users.
  • The risk of a drug overdose is always greater when using illicit street drugs, because the user can never be sure how strong the drug is that they are taking; ultimately, this can lead to serious, or even fatal consequences.

Adolescents (18 and under)

It is a disturbing fact that many adolescents in the United States become introduced to drugs and alcohol at a very young age, and some even become addicted and dependent to drugs and/or alcohol. For adolescents who do become addicted and dependent to alcohol and drugs, parents must be willing to do whatever it takes to help their child before it is too late. Any suspicion that drugs or alcohol are in the picture should be confronted immediately, otherwise, addiction will lead down a path of total destruction for the adolescent as well as for the family. There are drug and alcohol rehabilitation programs for adolescents available in every state, many of which cater only to adolescents and have treatment professionals on hand that are trained specifically in dealing with this age group.
