  • Drug Overdose Facts
  • The Center for Disease Control (CDC) is currently examining the prescription histories of individuals who have died from prescription drug overdoses in hopes of identifying markers that are indicative of people at risk of fatal overdoses; this information can be used to enhance the effectiveness of prescription monitoring programs nationwide.
  • Americans are dying from prescription drug overdoses that were initially created for pain control, but have often been diverted into the lucrative black market.
  • If someone takes too much Ecstasy they may experience an overdose which can either cause acute or long term harm and health consequences but can in rare instances even lead to death.
  • Individuals who use magic mushrooms may be poisoned if one of the many varieties of poisonous mushrooms is incorrectly identified as a magic mushroom.
  • For some, there is an additional period of time (2-6 hrs) after a magic mushroom trip where it is difficult to go to sleep and a noticeable difference from everyday reality which is not strong enough to be considered tripping.

Other Language Programs

Those who speak other languages, other than English that is, should be able to receive substance abuse treatment which is on par with English speakers. Those who speak other languages should not feel that their treatment curriculum or treatment setting is going to be any less effective because they don't speak English. There are quite a few drug treatment centers available which provide services to those who speak foreign languages, all of which offer a variety of programs to choose from. For example, some drug and alcohol rehabilitation programs which provide services for people who speak other languages are only short term programs, and others are longer term programs. Foreign language speakers should consult with a treatment professional in their area to choose a drug rehab facility that provides rehabilitation services in their specific language.
