  • Drug Overdose Facts
  • By age 25-30, children of alcoholics tend to have levels of drug use "substantially higher" than children of non-alcoholics.
  • In 2005 nearly 33 million Americans had used pain relievers such as Lortab non-medically in their lifetimes, which was second only to marijuana in terms of past-year use.
  • Globally, nearly 320,000 adolescents and young adults between the age of 15 and 29 die from alcohol-related causes every year, resulting in 9% of all deaths in that age group.
  • Since 1999, the large majority of drug overdose deaths have mostly been attributed to one particular category of drugs that are commonly referred to as "narcotics", and include prescription painkillers called opiods.
  • A heroin overdose can be potentially deadly, if an observer does not realize that the symptoms of overdose are far more intense and serious than the actual immediate effects of the drug.

Dui/Dwi Offender Programs

DUI/DWI offenders are typically required to enroll in a specific number of hours either in counseling, meetings or a substance abuse treatment program. Each state has its own requirements when it comes to retribution for the DUI/DWI offender. Offenders who are regarded as low to moderate DUI/DWI offenders will typically be required to participate in some form of group counseling or therapy. These meetings are usually held by a professional in the field of addiction recovery or a person with long-term sobriety involved in the Alcoholics or Narcotics Anonymous groups. DUI/DWI offenders considered to be serious offenders will likely have to serve jail time at a minimum before beginning their mandatory counseling or substance abuse rehabilitation program.
