  • Drug Overdose Facts
  • During the 1960s the rates of recreational use of LSD were extremely high because of the drugs "mind-expanding" qualities which were promoted by influential researchers, such as Harvard scientist Timothy Leary.
  • Although anabolic steroids have been reported to build muscle, they remain dangerous and illegal and can cause many serious and sometimes deadly side effects.
  • After the euphoric feelings experienced during an Ecstasy high have diminished, users are left with only the speedy depressive effect of the drug.
  • Bad reactions to LSD are sometimes known to continue for years after some individuals say they have stopped using the drug.
  • A drug ring in Maine was dismantled by law enforcement which was responsible for obtaining OxyContin by using forged prescriptions, having them filled at pharmacies in southern Maine and New Hampshire, and covering the costs with their Medicaid cards.

Residential Short-Term Treatment that is 30 days or less

Residential short-term treatment for addiction is a type ofrehabilitation program where the person will stay at the facility on an inpatient basis, and which normally demands a stay of 30 days or less. While in residential short-term treatment the client undergoes an intensive but brief course of treatment that commonly includes a supervised detox, counseling, and other forms of therapy which are aimed at helping the individual become rehabilitated and able to function without drugs in everyday life once treatment is complete. Residential short-term treatment is not always effective for all instances of addiction, and most will require an aftercare program or further treatment in a more long-term residential setting.
