  • A study by the Washington State prison system reported that the risk of drug overdose death is over 12 times greater during the first two years after the inmates have been released.
  • Because of its prolonged extended action, abuse of OxyContin can cause serious side effects when injected as it goes directly into the bloodstream.
  • Recently in the state of California, drug overdose deaths have raised dramatically, according to many recent news reports. In one instance, a 19-year old Army recruit, who had just recently passed his military physical, took a handful and Xanax and went out drinking with several friends; this person did not ever get the opportunity to serve in the military, as he was subsequently found dead in his vehicle the next morning.

Other Language Programs

People who speak other languages, other than English that is, should be able to receive substance abuse treatment which is on par with English speakers. Those who speak other languages should not feel that their treatment opportunities are limited or inferior because they don't speak English. There are quite a few drug and alcohol rehabilitation centers available which cater to those who speak foreign languages, all of which provide a variety of programs to choose from. For example, some substance abuse rehab facilities which can treat people who speak other languages are only short term rehab facilities, but there are more long term options available. Foreign language speakers should consult with an addiction professional in their area to choose a drug rehab program that provides rehabilitation services in their specific language.
