  • Drug Overdose Facts
  • GHB is sometimes referred to as "somatax", "Georgia Home Boy" and "liquid ecstasy".
  • Alcohol depresses body functions that play a key role in involuntary actions such as breathing and the gag reflex which prevents choking. A fatal dose of alcohol will eventually stop these functions.
  • Although activated charcoal administration was once considered a mainstay of treatment for patients who have experienced an acute overdose, recent studies have indicated that there is very little in the way of benefits that are derived from it.
  • Being in a drug rehab setting makes it less likely that the individual will relapse back into use of Vicodin, as there will be a sufficient support system available at the facility and there wont be any Vicodin around.
  • Individuals who become hooked on Vicodin commonly need to take higher and higher dosages of Vicodin to achieve the desired effects.

Residential Short-Term Treatment that is 30 days or less

Residential short-term treatment for drug or alcohol addiction is a variety oftreatment program where the addicted individual will reside at the facility on an inpatient basis, and which normally requires a stay of 30 days or less. While attending residential short-term treatment the individual undergoes an intensive but short duration of treatment that typically incorporates a supervised detoxification, counseling, and other forms of therapy which are aimed at helping the individual become rehabilitated and able to function without drugs in daily life once rehab is complete. Residential short-term treatment is not always effective for all cases of addiction, and most will require an aftercare program or further treatment in a more long-term residential setting.
