  • Drug Overdose Facts
  • Recently in the state of California, drug overdose deaths have raised dramatically, according to many recent news reports. In one instance, a 19-year old Army recruit, who had just recently passed his military physical, took a handful and Xanax and went out drinking with several friends; this person did not ever get the opportunity to serve in the military, as he was subsequently found dead in his vehicle the next morning.
  • Inhalant abuse often results in sores around the mouth, red eyes, watery eyes, spots around the mouth, and sometimes an extreme lack of coordination.
  • Crack withdrawal can be so intense that it puts users at extreme risk of suicide or overdose.
  • Crystal meth can be detected in the urine using standard drug tests for 2 to 3 days.
  • Diuretics such as alcohol or coffee exacerbate the dangers and risks associated with using Ecstasy.

Limited Hospitalization/Day Treatment Programs

Partial Hospitalization, also known as "PHP" or Day Treatment, is a type of treatment program which works to treat substance abuse issues and mental health issues which may be co-occurring. In a PHP program, the person in treatment participates in various recovery activities and techniques during the day and then returns home in the evening. This is done anywhere from five to seven days a week, depending on the seriousness of the problem. Partial Hospitalization can be beneficial for addicted individuals who may not be able to afford long-term inpatient care, or who are unable to be away from their families for extended periods of time. While in Day Treatment, individuals participate in standard counseling and therapy for addiction issues while also addressing mental health issues which could keep them from staying sober once treatment is complete.
