  • Drug Overdose Facts
  • Early studies conducted with LSD focused on what insight it might be able to offer into certain types of mental illness.
  • According to recent data that has been compiled by the Center for Disease Control (CDC), the group that has reported the highest increases in death by drug overdose within the past several years are reported to be middle-aged white females and teenagers and young adults that are between the ages of 16-24 that live in southern portions of the United States.
  • Educating physicians who prescribe prescription drugs regarding prescription drug abuse is critically important, because even brief interventions by physicians have proven effective in reducing or eliminating prescription drug abuse in individuals who are not yet addicted to them.
  • Individual high on LSD may induce psychotic hallucinations in which they believe that what they are seeing is real, which can be extremely frightening.
  • Because there are at least a quarter million people receiving methadone, it is unknown how many of these individuals may be addicted to the drug.

Medicaid Coverage

Medicaid is a type of health insurance which is accessible to people in certain low-income tax brackets. Eligibility for Medicaid depends greatly on income and other circumstances such as whether or not the person has dependents and if they receive any other assistance. Medicaid may even cover the costs associated with drug or alcohol rehab, and there are many drug and alcohol rehab facilities throughout the country which are covered through Medicaid. Most drug treatment facilities which are covered through Medicaid may only deliver a limited treatment curriculum and may only supply such treatment on a short term basis, usually 30 days or less. Individuals who have Medicaid should research which programs cover the greatest amount of treatment for the most amount of time to reap the full benefits of a Medicaid rehab program.
