  • Drug Overdose Facts
  • Heroin overdose rates have grown by double-digits during the last five years, throughout the United States.
  • Fentanyl is commonly used to treat individuals with severe pain, to manage pain after surgery, and sometimes to treat people with chronic pain who are physically tolerant to opiates.
  • Acetaminophen is metabolized solely by the liver, so there is a risk of fatal overdose due to hepatotoxicity when someone takes too much Vicodin.
  • Amphetamine sometimes contain substances which do not easily dissolve in water, and when injected can pass into the body and block small blood vessels or weaken the blood vessel walls. Kidney damage, lung problems, strokes, or other tissue injury may result.
  • An observer of a drug overdose incident should try to remain calm, and attempt to get a response from the person by squeezing their arm and calling their name.

Dui/Dwi Offender Programs

DUI/DWI offenders are typically required to enroll in a specific number of hours either in counseling, meetings or a substance abuse rehabilitation program. Each state has its own requirements when it comes to sentencing for the DUI/DWI offender. Offenders who are regarded as low to moderate DUI/DWI offenders will typically be required to participate in some form of group counseling or therapy. These are sometimes referred to as "Level I & Level II Alcohol Classes". These meetings are usually held by a professional in the field of addiction recovery or a person with long-term sobriety involved in the Alcoholics or Narcotics Anonymous groups. DUI/DWI offenders deemed to be serious offenders will likely have to serve jail time at a minimum before beginning their assigned counseling or substance abuse treatment program.
