  • Drug Overdose Facts
  • Heroin is derived from morphine which is a derivative of opium, a naturally occurring substance that is extracted from the seedpod of the opium poppy.
  • Many pharmacists in the United States have often dubbed methadone as the "scary pill", because sometimes people do not get the immediate pain relief that they want from this drug, so they take more than they should, which could potentially result in a fatal overdose.
  • Ecstasy use can increase heart rate, blood pressure, and heart wall stress.
  • During an alcohol induced blackout, an individual may be involved in significant and emotionally charged events without having any recall of them later.
  • Amphetamines as stimulants are highly addictive and work like alcohol, nicotine, and cocaine on the dopamine "reward" systems of the brain.

Outpatient Treatment

Drug treatment services which are delivered on an outpatient basis are readily available to addicted individuals who have circumstances which prevent them from being able to take part in an inpatient rehabilitation center. An outpatient drug and alcohol rehabilitation facility offers many of the same services as an inpatient program, but allows for flexibility as opposed to an inpatient drug treatment center where the individual is expected to remain at the rehab facility until the treatment process is complete. Outpatient drug rehab is also available for those who have completed residential or inpatient treatment but require a thorough aftercare program which will offer further support and treatment to help them avoid relapse.
