  • Factors which greatly influence alcohol use are negative moods, feelings of depression, and anxiety disorders.
  • People who use illicit drugs are at risk for a drug overdose, as there is a fine line between the high that they are seeking and serious injury or death.

  • Individuals who extract the fentanyl from a time release patch and consume it all at once are receiving far too much of the drug at one time than was ever legitimately intended.

Hospital Inpatient Programs

Hospital inpatient drug rehabilitation is carried out in a hospital setting and is supervised by doctors and other medical staff. Hospital inpatient treatment is sometimes necessary in the beginning stages of abstinence when the client may encounter the onset of life threatening withdrawal symptoms, which is sometimes the case when quitting alcohol as well as a category of prescription drugs known as benzodiazepines which must be monitored very carefully by medical professionals in case of any complications. Hospital inpatient treatment is also delivered to those who choose to undergo medication assisted withdrawal, as is the case with individuals who are addicted to opiates and wish to use this type of detoxification technique to manage the harsh withdrawal symptoms associated with heroin or other opiate withdrawal. This type of opiate detox is not treatment in itself however, and these individuals will require further counseling and therapy to fully recover from addiction.
