  • Drug Overdose Facts
  • Historically, male overdose death rates have far exceeded female death rates in every category of drugs.
  • Because the drug is habit forming, Ambien will not typically be prescribed to someone who has been known to have a history of substance abuse or drug addiction.
  • Fentanyl is commonly used to treat individuals with severe pain, to manage pain after surgery, and sometimes to treat people with chronic pain who are physically tolerant to opiates.
  • Many individuals who use GHB will risk a deadly overdose, as they are trying to take enough of the drug to be able to experience an "out of body buzz, which would be like watching themselves on television."
  • Despite all efforts by federal, state or local authorities to stop diversion and abuse, the illicit use of OxyContin is at an all-time high.

Criminal Justice Client Programs

Criminal justice clients often need drug or alcohol rehabilitation due to problems with addiction. Due to the nature of the criminal justice system, there are specific steps and guidelines that must be performed in order to be accepted into a criminal justice substance abuse rehab program or recovery program. The initial step is to figure out the criminal justice clients eligibility. This step is completed by a panel of officials who decide how much and what type of substance abuse [[[rehabilitation is necessary. Sometimes, the criminal justice clients obtain their drug treatment while they are incarcerated. For optimum results, they are encouraged, if not strictly directed, to continue their recovery once they leave jail and enroll in a sober living home or a long-term residential transitional living program.
