  • Drug Overdose Facts
  • Bath Salts are drugs which have similar effects to drugs such as cocaine and methamphetamine.
  • Abrupt cessation of Ativan, a drug in a class known as benzodiazepines, can cause withdrawal symptoms after taking typical doses of the drug for as little as one week.
  • Histamines which are released by methadone can cause hypotension or bronchospasms.
  • Heroin addicts prefer the high achieved from using both Methadone and heroin together, because the drug drastically increases the euphoric effects of heroin.
  • Treatment for a drug overdose is always dependent on knowing which type of drug has been used; therefore, it is critical that a person who witnesses a drug overdose bring any pills or bottles that may help the emergency medical team to determine the appropriate form of treatment.

Limited Hospitalization/Day Treatment Programs

Partial Hospitalization, also known as "PHP" or Day Treatment, is a type of rehabilitation program which works to treat substance abuse problems and mental health conditions which may be co-occurring. In a PHP program, the person in treatment takes part in various recovery activities and techniques during the day and then returns home in the evening. This is done anywhere from five to seven days a week, depending on the seriousness of the problem. Partial Hospitalization can be helpful for addicted persons who cannot afford long-term inpatient care, or who are unable to be away from their families for prolonged periods of time. While in Day Treatment, clients participate in standard counseling and therapy for addiction issues while also addressing mental health troubles which could prevent them from staying sober once treatment is complete.
