  • Drug Overdose Facts
  • Common behavioral side effects reported among those who abuse anabolic steroids are mood swings, forgetfulness, and confusion.
  • Individuals who use PCP can experience several unpleasant psychological effects, including delusions, hallucinations, disordered thinking and extreme anxiety.
  • Due to its hallucinogenic properties, Ecstasy can cause a sense of emotional warmth and users may lose track of time and have different changes in perception such as enhanced tactile experiences.
  • Even individuals who take fentanyl legitimately for pain are putting themselves at risk of dangerous side effects and overdose.
  • Currently in the United States, there is very little funding for overdose prevention; unfortunately, the overdose epidemic continues to escalate as the federal grants for these types of preventative programs are not being approved for funding.

Residential Short-Term Treatment that is 30 days or less

Residential short-term treatment for drug or alcohol addiction is a variety ofrehabilitation program where the addicted individual will stay at the facility on an inpatient basis, and which typically requires a stay of 30 days or less. While attending residential short-term treatment the individual undergoes an intensive but brief course of treatment that typically includes a supervised detoxification, counseling, and other forms of therapy which are aimed at helping the individual to recover and be able to function without drugs in everyday life once rehab is complete. Residential short-term treatment is not always effective for all cases of addiction, and most will require an aftercare program or further treatment in a more long-term residential facility.
