  • Drug Overdose Facts
  • Bath Salts were first produced and sold to be a legal synthetic high, much like the synthetic cannabinoid K-2 or Spice.
  • Alcohol increases blood flow to the stomach and intestine, which increases secretions by these organs, including significant stomach acid secretion which can cause irritation and damage.
  • Among American seniors, moderate and heavy drinkers are 16 times more likely than their counterparts to die of suicide, which is commonly associated with depressive disorders.
  • Heavy alcohol consumption (more than six drinks per day) can cause heart disease in people infected with HIV. Therefore, stopping or cutting down on their alcohol consumption may help to reduce the risk of heart disease.
  • Opiods have been reported to suppress activity in portions of the brain that control breathing; consequently, many individuals who experience a drug overdose from these types of drugs die because of a lack of oxygen reaching the body.

Limited Hospitalization/Day Treatment Programs

Partial Hospitalization, also known as "PHP" or Day Treatment, is a form of rehabilitation program which works to treat substance abuse problems and mental health conditions which may be co-occurring. In a PHP program, the individual in treatment participates in various recovery activities and techniques during the day and then returns home in the evening. This takes place anywhere from five to seven days a week, depending on the seriousness of the problem. Partial Hospitalization can be helpful for addicted persons who cannot afford long-term inpatient care, or who are unable to be away from their families for extended periods of time. While in Day Treatment, individuals participate in typical counseling and therapy for addiction issues while also addressing mental health issues which could keep them from staying sober once treatment is complete.
