  • Drug Overdose Facts
  • A woman in San Diego California was recently reported to have died of a Fentanyl overdose; ironically, next to her on the couch was a notebook that contained information about drug rehab programs that she had been recently considering.
  • Anabolic steroids are not widely used by intercollegiate athletes although use is more than triple the national rate as compared to students who were not athletes.
  • Heroin exerts its effects on the brain more quickly than other opiates, which is probably why many opiate addicts prefer heroin.
  • Ambien use may result in sleepwalking and binge eating, as well as driving, sleep talking, and performing other daily tasks, while under the influence of the drug (asleep).
  • Ambien is not produced with a protective coating meant to prevent the possibility of snorting the drug for recreational use. However, to a serious drug user this is not an obstacle.

Limited Hospitalization/Day Treatment Programs

Partial Hospitalization, also known as "PHP" or Day Treatment, is a type of treatment program which works to treat substance abuse problems and mental health issues which may be co-occurring. In a PHP program, the person in treatment takes part in various treatment activities and techniques during the day and then returns home in the evening. This takes place anywhere from five to seven days a week, depending on the severity of the problem. Partial Hospitalization can be helpful for addicted persons who may not be able to afford long-term inpatient care, or who are unable to be away from their families for prolonged periods of time. While in Day Treatment, clients participate in typical counseling and therapy for addiction issues while also addressing mental health troubles which could keep them from making progress and obtaining gains throughout the treatment process.
