  • Drug Overdose Facts
  • According to an epidemiologist for the Center for Disease Control, drug overdose death rates are currently more than double what they were during the peak years of crack cocaine mortality in the 1990's, and five times higher than the rates during the year of heroin mortality peak in 1975.
  • In certain people, an interaction that could result in a potentially fatal overdose can take place when alcohol is mixed with cough medicines that contain dextromethorphan; unfortunately, there is no possible way to predict who will experience this particular, life-threatening interaction, and who will not.
  • Ambien users have sometimes been observed by others performing tasks that would only be undertaken while awake, although they were actually asleep which presents many risks and dangers.
  • During 2008, 1.8 percent of high school seniors reported having used PCP at least once.
  • Anabolic steroid users will begin to spend large amounts of time and money trying to get these drugs, which is another common hallmark of a drug addiction.

Dui/Dwi Offender Programs

DUI/DWI offenders are often required to participate in a specific number of hours either in counseling, meetings or a drug or alcohol treatment program. Each state has its own requirements when it comes to retribution for the DUI/DWI offender. Offenders who are considered to be low to moderate DUI/DWI offenders will typically engage in some form of group counseling or therapy. These are sometimes referred to as "Level I & Level II Alcohol Classes". These group meetings are often held by a professional in the field of addiction recovery or a person with long-term sobriety involved in the Alcoholics or Narcotics Anonymous groups. DUI/DWI offenders deemed to be serious offenders will likely have to serve jail time at a minimum before beginning their mandatory counseling or substance abuse rehab program.
