  • Drug Overdose Facts
  • Homeowners are often a target for individuals who are seeking to steal prescription drugs, with owners and real estate agents increasingly reporting prescription drugs missing from medicine cabinets after open houses.
  • Ecstasy use has become popular among urban gay males who commonly use the drug as part of a multiple-drug experience that includes marijuana, cocaine, methamphetamine, ketamine, sildenafil (Viagra), and other legal and illegal substances.
  • Alcohols causes a diuretic effect which results in vital electrolytes such as potassium and magnesium being expelled from the body which is necessary for proper cell function.
  • Opiods have been reported to suppress activity in portions of the brain that control breathing; consequently, many individuals who experience a drug overdose from these types of drugs die because of a lack of oxygen reaching the body.
  • Individuals who use Ecstasy always run the risk of taking two other potentially toxic substances known as MDA and PMA, which are similar to Ecstasy but much more toxic and have been responsible with fatalities in the United States and Australia.

Outpatient Treatment

Drug or alcohol rehabilitation programs which are provided on an outpatient basis are available to addicted individuals who have circumstances which prevent them from being able to take part in an inpatient treatment center. An outpatient drug rehabilitation facility provides many of the same services as an inpatient program, but allows for flexibility as opposed to an inpatient drug rehab program where the individual is required to stay and reside at the rehab center until treatment is complete. Outpatient drug rehab is also offered for individuals who have completed residential or inpatient treatment but require a thorough aftercare program which will offer additional support and therapy to help them remain clean and sober.
