  • Drug Overdose Facts
  • Heroin is derived from morphine and usually appears as a white or brown powder or as a black, sticky substance.
  • If used in extremely high doses, crystal meth can increase heart rate, body temperature can rise to very dangerous levels, and the user can become paranoid, agitated and display very bizarre and risky behavior.
  • A woman in San Diego California was recently reported to have died of a Fentanyl overdose; ironically, next to her on the couch was a notebook that contained information about drug rehab programs that she had been recently considering.
  • Amphetamines react upon several key neurotransmitters in the brain, including dopamine, serotonin, and norepinephrine.
  • Ambien use can cause the users to carry on full conversations while actually asleep, and be able to respond as though they were fully awake, while being obviously incoherent and having no relevance to the current situation.

Limited Hospitalization/Day Treatment Programs

Partial Hospitalization, also known as "PHP" or Day Treatment, is a form of treatment program which works to treat substance abuse problems and mental health conditions which may be co-occurring. In a PHP program, the person in treatment takes part in a variety of recovery activities and techniques during the day and then returns home in the evening. This takes place anywhere from five to seven days a week, depending on the seriousness of the problem. Partial Hospitalization can be helpful for addicted individuals who may not be able to afford long-term inpatient care, or who are unable to be away from their families for prolonged periods of time. While in Day Treatment, individuals take part in typical counseling and therapy for addiction issues while also addressing mental health problems which could keep them from making progress and obtaining gains throughout the treatment process.
