  • Drug Overdose Facts
  • In 2010 there were about 10 million underage (aged 12 to 20) drinkers in the U.S., including 6.5 million binge drinkers and 2.0 million heavy drinkers.
  • Ativan often reduces the users level of consciousness, lowering the ability to think or be fully aware of their present surroundings.
  • An individual under the influence of LSD will often see trails and dots and sometimes lines in lots of different colors.
  • Among current American drinkers aged 12 to 20 in 2010 who had not paid for the alcohol the last time they had consumed, nearly 40 percent got it from an unrelated person aged 21 or older, 16.6 percent from another person younger than 21 years old, and 21.6 percent from a parent, guardian, or other adult family member.
  • Methadone overdoses have skyrocket in the United States, because the drug is much cheaper and some insurance plans do not cover the more expensive prescription pain medications.

Substance Abuse Programs

Substance abuse treatment is offered in a wide variety of distinct treatment settings with a variety of different treatment methods. For example, some substance abuse treatment can be done on an outpatient basis, where the individual will typically participate in treatment during the day but is allowed to return home daily. Other substance abuse treatment requires the individual to reside in a hospital or residential facility during the entire course of treatment, which is especially helpful in handling more serious cases of addiction. Inpatient and residential substance abuse treatment can be done on a short term or long term basis, depending on different circumstances which can be different for each person. Most substance abuse treatment will concentrate on getting the person physically rehabilitated, and then concentrate on the root psychological and emotional issues which will help them avoid relapse in the future.
