  • Drug Overdose Facts
  • An estimated 43% of U. S. Adults report having grown up in a household with or married an alcoholic or a problem drinker, or had a blood relative who was diagnosed with alcoholism or who was a problem drinker.
  • Crack cocaine is extracted from coke using baking soda and heat, the waxy base of which becomes rocks of cocaine, ready to be sold in vials.
  • An Ecstasy high can be described as a felling of well-being, a sense of euphoria, enhanced sense of touch, sound and color, along with a boost in energy.
  • Freebasing cocaine mean that cocaine hydrochloride is converted into cocaine sulfate that is "free" of the additives and nearly 100% pure. It is not water soluble and has a low melting point, so it can be smoked.
  • Ecstasy is frequently combined with alcohol or other types of drugs, which greatly increases the user's risk of a potentially fatal Ecstasy overdose.

Adolescents (18 and under)

It is an unfortunate fact that many adolescents in the United States become introduced to drugs and alcohol at a very young age, and some even become addicted and dependent to drugs and/or alcohol. For adolescents who do become addicted and dependent to drugs and alcohol, parents need to take every step possible to get the problem resolved before it is too late. Any indication that drugs or alcohol are in the picture should be addressed right away, otherwise, addiction will lead down a path of total destruction for the adolescent and for the family. There are drug treatment programs for adolescents offered in every state, many of which cater only to adolescents and have treatment professionals and counselors on hand that are trained specifically in handling this age group.
