  • A study of gay and bisexual men in Seattle, Washington and San Jose, California indicates that methamphetamine use often occurs in tandem with unsafe sex practices. Many study subjects also reported that they already had HIV infection or AIDS.
  • Analogues which are similar in chemical structure and can be passed off as GHB include GBL and BD.
  • Alcoholic binge drinking causes dehydration and affects the health of the skin, due to the fact that the skin loses the supply of vital nutrients needed by the body.
  • A survey of non-injection methamphetamine users who were both heterosexual and gay males concluded that these users had more sex partners, were less likely to use a condom, and were more likely to exchange sex for money or drugs, have sex with an injection drug user, or to have a history of STDs; all risk factors for HIV transmission.

Other Language Programs

Individuals who speak other languages, other than English that is, should be able to receive drug or alcohol treatment which is on par with English speakers. Those who speak other languages should not feel that their treatment curriculum or treatment setting is going to be any less effective because they don't speak English. There are quite a few drug treatment facilities available which cater to those who speak foreign languages, all of which provide a selection of programs to choose from. For example, some drug and alcohol rehabilitation programs which cater to those who speak other languages are only short term rehab facilities, but there are more long term options available. Foreign language speakers should seek the advice from an addiction professional in their area to choose a drug treatment program that provides rehabilitation services in their specific language.
