  • Drug Overdose Facts
  • Ativan is a short-acting benzodiazepine, and is more likely to cause severe withdrawal symptoms than other more longer-acting benzodiazepines.
  • Individuals who become addicted to Lortab will do just about anything to get more of the drug, and will typically engage in what is known as doctor-shopping in an attempt to get more prescriptions for the drug.
  • Many complications of heroin addiction are related to the unsanitary administration of the drug. Others are due to the inherent properties of the drug, overdose, or intoxicated behavior accompanying drug use.
  • One way to reduce the frequency of heroin drug overdoses in the United States would be to inform heroin users about the severe danger of combining the drug with alcohol or various other types of depressants.
  • Individuals who take PCP commonly see images, hear sounds, and feel sensations that seem real but are not.

Substance Abuse Programs

Substance abuse treatment is offered in a wide range of different treatment settings with a variety of different treatment approaches. For example, some substance abuse treatment can be performed on an outpatient basis, where the person will typically receive treatment during the day but is allowed to return home daily. Other substance abuse treatment requires the person to reside in a hospital or residential facility during the entire course of treatment, which is especially helpful in resolving more severe cases of addiction. Inpatient and residential substance abuse treatment can be done on a short term or long term basis, depending on various circumstances which can be different for each individual. Most substance abuse treatment will concentrate on getting the person physically rehabilitated, and then focus on underlying psychological and emotional issues which will help them avoid relapse in the future.
