  • Drug Overdose Facts
  • Treatment for a drug overdose is always dependent on knowing which type of drug has been used; therefore, it is critical that a person who witnesses a drug overdose bring any pills or bottles that may help the emergency medical team to determine the appropriate form of treatment.
  • Dilaudid addicted individuals who only go through medically assisted detox and withdrawal and get no further treatment have outcomes that are about the same as those who never attended a drug rehab.
  • In one animal study involving cocaine, an addicted monkey pressed a bar 12,800 times until it got a single dose of cocaine.
  • During 2004, 31.8 million Americans had used prescription pain relievers non-medically in their lifetime.
  • An observer of a drug overdose incident should try to remain calm, and attempt to get a response from the person by squeezing their arm and calling their name.

Dui/Dwi Offender Programs

DUI/DWI offenders are typically required to participate in a certain number of hours either in counseling, meetings or a substance abuse treatment program. Each state has its own requirements when it comes to sentencing for the DUI/DWI offender. Offenders who are deemed low to moderate DUI/DWI offenders will typically be required to participate in some form of group counseling or therapy. These are sometimes referred to as "Level I & Level II Alcohol Classes". These group meetings are often held by a professional in the field of addiction recovery or a person with long-term sobriety involved in the Alcoholics or Narcotics Anonymous groups. DUI/DWI offenders deemed to be serious offenders will likely have to serve jail time at a minimum before beginning their assigned counseling or alcohol rehab program.
