  • Easy access is one reason that Bath Salts have grown in popularity throughout the United States.

  • In 2007 over 2 million Americans reported that they were Xanax dependent.
  • In one animal study involving cocaine, an addicted monkey pressed a bar 12,800 times until it got a single dose of cocaine.
  • Because freebase cocaine is resistant to destruction by heat, it can be smoked using cigarettes, including marijuana cigarettes, or in "coke pipes."

Hospital Inpatient Programs

Hospital inpatient substance abuse treatment is performed in a hospital setting and is supervised by doctors and other medical staff. Hospital inpatient treatment is often necessary in the beginning stages of abstinence when the person may experience the onset of medically dangerous withdrawal symptoms, which is sometimes the case when quitting alcohol as well as a category of prescription drugs known as benzodiazepines which must be monitored very carefully by medical professionals in case of any complications. Hospital inpatient treatment is also administered to individuals who choose to undergo medication assisted withdrawal, as is the case with opiate addicted individuals who wish to use this type of detox approach to avoid the harsh withdrawal symptoms associated with heroin or other opiate withdrawal. This type of opiate detox is not considered full rehabilitation and these individuals will require additional counseling and therapy to fully recover from addiction.
