  • Drug Overdose Facts
  • When cocaine is smoked or used intravenously, it greatly increases the risk of a potentially fatal overdose due to respiratory or coronary complications.
  • Although activated charcoal administration was once considered a mainstay of treatment for patients who have experienced an acute overdose, recent studies have indicated that there is very little in the way of benefits that are derived from it.
  • Annual rates of hallucinogen use in the U.S. have increased significantly among high school seniors in both annual (2.6 percent) and past-month (0.8 percent) use of LSD.
  • Crack cocaine is a highly addictive and powerful stimulant that is derived from powdered cocaine, made by dissolving powdered cocaine in a mixture of water and ammonia or sodium bicarbonate until a solid substance forms which is then broken into the chunks (rocks).
  • Individuals who consume high doses of PCP may experience nausea, vomiting, blurred vision, flicking up and down of the eyes, drooling, loss of balance, and dizziness.

Other Language Programs

Individuals who speak other languages, other than English that is, should be able to receive drug or alcohol rehabilitation which is on par with English speakers. Those who speak other languages should not feel that their treatment curriculum or treatment setting is going to be any less effective because they don't speak English. There are quite a few substance abuse treatment facilities available which cater to those who speak foreign languages, all of which provide a selection of programs to choose from. For example, some drug treatment facilities which cater to people who speak other languages are only short term rehab facilities, but there are more long term options available. Foreign language speakers should seek the advice from an addiction professional in their area to choose a drug rehabilitation facility that provides rehabilitation services in their specific language.
