  • Individuals who are heroin addicted sometimes intentionally induce withdrawal symptoms to reduce their tolerance for the drug, only in an attempt to once again experience the rush when they start taking the drug again.
  • In 2010 there were 1.5 million current cocaine users aged 12 or older in the nation, which is similar to the number and rate in 2009 (1.6 million or 0.7 percent) showing very little improvement in curbing the cocaine drug problem.
  • Ecstasy users take the drug at all-night parties, raves etc. which is why it is commonly known as a club drug.
  • Chronic heavy drinking can make individuals more susceptible to pneumonia, lung collapse and pulmonary infections.
  • Alcohol slows reaction time and impairs judgment and coordination, skills which are needed to drive a motor vehicle safely. The more alcohol consumed, the greater the impairment.

Other Language Programs

Individuals who speak other languages, other than English that is, should be able to receive drug or alcohol rehabilitation which is on par with English speakers. Those who speak other languages should not feel that their treatment curriculum or treatment setting is going to be any less effective because they don't speak English. There are quite a few substance abuse rehabilitation facilities available which provide services to those who speak foreign languages, all of which offer various programs to choose from. For example, some substance abuse rehab facilities which provide services for people who speak other languages are only short term rehab facilities, and others are longer term programs. Foreign language speakers can seek the advice from an addiction professional in their area to choose a drug or alcohol rehab program that provides rehabilitation services in their specific language.
