  • Drug Overdose Facts
  • Waking up in an emergency room after being treated for a potentially fatal drug overdose can often be the bottom that many addicted individuals need to hit before they are willing to fully commit to a drug rehab program so that they can finally be free from their addiction.
  • The shift in the types of drugs that are reported to be responsible for the large majority of drug overdoses has also changed the demographics of those individuals that are dying from overdoses.
  • A small decrease in use was observed among high school seniors who reported use of flavored alcoholic beverages, dropping from 53.4% 2009 to 47.9% in 2010.
  • Americans in the two lower income brackets (less than $9,000 and $9,000-$19,999) report more instances of heavy alcohol use than workers in higher income brackets ($20,000-$39,999, $40,000-$74,999, and $75,000 or more).

Limited Hospitalization/Day Treatment Programs

Partial Hospitalization, also known as "PHP" or Day Treatment, is a form of treatment program which works to treat substance abuse issues and mental health issues which may be co-occurring. In a PHP program, the person in treatment participates in various recovery activities and techniques during the day and then returns home in the evening. This takes place anywhere from five to seven days a week, depending on the seriousness of the problem. Partial Hospitalization can be beneficial for addicted persons who cannot afford long-term inpatient care, or who are unable to be away from their families for prolonged periods of time. While in Day Treatment, clients take part in typical counseling and therapy for addiction issues while also addressing mental health problems which could keep them from staying sober once treatment is complete.
