  • Drug Overdose Facts
  • Crystal meth addicts often exchange sex for the drug, exposing them to sexually transmitted diseases and HIV.
  • Alcohol can cause complications and adverse interactions with a wide variety of both over-the-counter and prescription medicines.
  • Because Methadone is a synthetic opiate, it is commonly used to replace other opiate medications such as Vicodin and OxyContin.
  • GHB is classified as a controlled substance, partially due to that fact that it has been shown to lack accepted safety for medical use in the United States.
  • High doses of GHB can make an individual fall into a deep coma-like sleep, and upon awakening they will have little or no memory of anything prior to taking the substance.

Limited Hospitalization/Day Treatment Programs

Partial Hospitalization, also known as "PHP" or Day Treatment, is a form of treatment program which works to treat substance abuse issues and mental health issues which may be co-occurring. In a PHP program, the person in treatment takes part in a variety of treatment activities and techniques during the day and then returns home in the evening. This takes place anywhere from five to seven days a week, depending on the severity of the problem. Partial Hospitalization can be helpful for addicted individuals who may not be able to afford long-term inpatient care, or who are unable to be away from their families for prolonged periods of time. While in Day Treatment, individuals take part in typical counseling and therapy for addiction issues while also addressing mental health issues which could keep them from making progress and obtaining gains throughout the treatment process.
