  • Drug Overdose Facts
  • Ecstasy often results in the same physical effects as other stimulants, such as cocaine and amphetamines including increases in heart rate and blood pressure.
  • Around 17% of men and about 8% of women will meet criteria for alcohol dependence at some point in their lives.
  • Federal and state regulations require that individuals in methadone programs undergo a yearly examination to determine whether they should continue in methadone maintenance treatment.
  • Ecstasy was first introduced to the party scene in the 1980s, when raves became popular and youth involved in the club scene discovered its powerful hallucinogenic and energy boosting effects.
  • Currently in the United States, there is very little funding for overdose prevention; unfortunately, the overdose epidemic continues to escalate as the federal grants for these types of preventative programs are not being approved for funding.

Limited Hospitalization/Day Treatment Programs

Partial Hospitalization, also known as "PHP" or Day Treatment, is a type of recovery program which works to treat substance abuse problems and mental health issues which may be co-occurring. In a PHP program, the person in treatment participates in a variety of treatment activities and techniques during the day and then returns home in the evening. This takes place anywhere from five to seven days a week, depending on the seriousness of the problem. Partial Hospitalization can be helpful for addicted individuals who may not be able to afford long-term inpatient care, or who are unable to be away from their families for prolonged periods of time. While in Day Treatment, clients take part in standard counseling and therapy for addiction issues while also addressing mental health troubles which could prevent them from making progress and obtaining gains throughout the treatment process.
