  • Drug Overdose Facts
  • Dilaudid is a prescription analgesic associated with high rates of dependence and addiction in both legitimate and illicit users.
  • Dilaudid overdoses occur often, and are a result of the individual consuming more of the drug than their body can process safely.
  • As of 2010, 2.4% of 8th graders, 4.7% of 10th graders, and 4.5% of 12th graders had abused Ecstasy at least once in the year prior to being surveyed.
  • Individuals who are alcohol dependent are three times more likely than those in the general population to be smokers.
  • The best possible way to be able to avoid a potentially fatal drug overdose is for the person who is struggling with a substance abuse problem to be admitted to a quality drug rehab program that has a history of a high success rate.

Substance Abuse Programs

Substance abuse treatment is offered in a wide variety of distinct treatment settings with a variety of different treatment approaches. For example, some substance abuse treatment can be carried out on an outpatient basis, where the person will typically participate in treatment during the day but is allowed to return home daily. Other substance abuse treatment requires the individual to reside in a hospital or residential facility during the entire course of treatment, which is especially beneficial in resolving more serious cases of addiction. Inpatient and residential substance abuse treatment can be done on a short term or long term basis, depending on various circumstances which can be different for each person. Most substance abuse treatment will focus on getting the person physically rehabilitated, and then concentrate on underlying psychological and emotional issues.
