  • Drug Overdose Facts
  • In a recent Canadian study, violence was the leading cause of amphetamine-related deaths.
  • Ambien users who use the drug over an extended period of time are more likely to experience severe withdrawal symptoms including seizures.
  • Due to the rapid onset of central nervous system depression that commonly occurs as the result of a methadone overdose, it is not wise to encourage the person to vomit, as this could lead to them choking.
  • In blind trials, individuals who were administered both heroin and methadone were unable to tell the difference between the effects of each drug.
  • Individuals who extract the fentanyl from a time release patch and consume it all at once are receiving far too much of the drug at one time than was ever legitimately intended.

Hospital Inpatient Programs

Hospital inpatient drug or alcohol treatment is performed in a hospital or similar setting and is overseen by doctors and other medical staff. Hospital inpatient treatment is sometimes necessary in the beginning stages of abstinence when the client may experience the onset of life threatening withdrawal symptoms, which is sometimes the case when quitting alcohol as well as a category of prescription drugs known as benzodiazepines which must be supervised very carefully by medical professionals to minimize ant dangerous health complications. Hospital inpatient treatment is also administered to individuals who choose to undergo medication assisted withdrawal, as is the case with individuals who are addicted to opiates and wish to use this type of detox approach to avoid the harsh withdrawal symptoms associated with heroin or other opiate withdrawal. This type of opiate detoxification is not considered full rehabilitation and these people will need further counseling and therapy to completely recover from addiction.
