  • Drug Overdose Facts
  • In 2010 there were 7.0 million individuals in the nation aged 12 or older who used prescription-type psychotherapeutic drugs non-medically in the past month. These estimates were similar to the previous year (7.0 million) and 2002 (6.3 million), showing little or no change with this problem.
  • Amphetamines as stimulants are highly addictive and work like alcohol, nicotine, and cocaine on the dopamine "reward" systems of the brain.
  • About 10% of alcohol health care costs spent annually are for care of fetal alcohol syndrome.
  • Employees who suffer from substance abuse are at a higher risk to frequently change jobs, decreased output and productivity, failure to be punctual, involvement in a recordable injury while working and filing workers compensation claims against their employer.
  • Individual counseling as part of drug rehab not only focuses on reducing or stopping illicit drug or alcohol use but other areas which may need particular focus such as employment status, illegal activity, and family/social relations.

Outpatient Treatment

Drug treatment services which are delivered on an outpatient basis are readily available to addicted individuals who have circumstances which prevent them from being able to take part in an inpatient treatment program. An outpatient substance abuse rehab center provides many of the same services as an inpatient program, but allows for flexibility as opposed to an inpatient drug or alcohol rehabilitation program where the individual is required to stay and reside at the rehab program until the treatment process has been fully completed. Outpatient drug or alcohol rehabilitation is also offered for individuals who have already gone through residential or inpatient treatment but require a comprehensive aftercare and relapse prevention program which will provide additional support and therapy to help them remain clean and sober.
