  • Drug Overdose Facts
  • When a life-threatening drug overdose is the result of a drug addiction problem, an individual should receive substance abuse treatment as soon as possible.
  • Individuals who consume more than 60 grams of alcohol a day, equivalent to four to five glasses of wine, are at an elevated risk of developing liver cancer for both men and women.
  • Both psychological and physical dependence can result from use of Ativan, making it difficult to discontinue use.
  • One of the problems with cases of serious alcohol poisoning is that the symptoms of this type of overdose are commonly the same as those of non-fatal intoxication.
  • Ativan obtained via the Internet or from vendors outside of the United States may contain a variety of dangerous ingredients, or may not be distributed by a licensed pharmacy.

Co-Occurring Mental with Substance Abuse Issues

Persons with co-occurring mental and substance abuse disorders must address both issues in order to become fully rehabilitated. Some individuals take drugs to ease symptoms of mental health problems, and some individuals take drugs which then, in turn, creates symptoms which are identical to mental health disorders, such as anxiety and depression. Drug rehabilitation professionals know how to differentiate between the two, and can work with clients to appropriately treat real mental health conditions in tandem with any other substance abuse treatment that is done with the individual. This has proven to be effective in keeping individuals with mental health problems off of drugs and alcohol and mentally stable and healthy.
