  • Drug Overdose Facts
  • One of the problems with cases of serious alcohol poisoning is that the symptoms of this type of an overdose are commonly the same as being highly intoxicated.
  • Consuming 250 milliliters of alcohol causes the body to expel 800 to 1,000 milliliters of water, causing the individual to lose four times as much liquid as is gained. This diuretic effect is one of the main factors which contributes to a hangover.
  • Elderly drivers who drink heavily are at greater risk of a crash than elderly drivers without alcoholism after consuming an equivalent dose of alcohol.
  • Approximately 60% of the people who experienced a deadly drug overdose using pharmaceuticals did not have documented prescriptions for the medications.
  • Abuse of stimulants such as Adderall can cause also many life-threatening and dangerous side effects because of their effects on the heart and central nervous system, which can lead to a heart attack or stroke.

Limited Hospitalization/Day Treatment Programs

Partial Hospitalization, also known as "PHP" or Day Treatment, is a form of recovery program which works to treat substance abuse problems and mental health conditions which may be co-occurring. In a PHP program, the person in treatment takes part in various treatment activities and techniques during the day and then returns home in the evening. This takes place anywhere from five to seven days a week, depending on the severity of the problem. Partial Hospitalization can be helpful for addicted individuals who may not be able to afford long-term inpatient care, or who are unable to be away from their families for prolonged periods of time. While in Day Treatment, clients take part in typical counseling and therapy for addiction issues while also addressing mental health issues which could keep them from staying sober once treatment is complete.
