  • According to the director of the National Director of the Poison Control Center, reports concerning Bath Salts have increased 25% in the first six months of 2011 when taking into account the number of calls received the previous year.
  • In the state of Washington, when an individual dies of a drug overdose from an illegal drug, the individual who has supplied the drug has committed "controlled-substance homicide," according to a law that was passed during 1987.
  • Because of the risk of dependence for even those who use Valium legitimately, it can literally happen to anyone.
  • Circumstances which have been associated with alcohol abuse and frequent alcohol consumption include impulsivity, risk-taking, and sensation-seeking, or the tendency to seek out new and exciting experiences.
  • Recently in the state of California, drug overdose deaths have raised dramatically, according to many recent news reports. In one instance, a 19-year old Army recruit, who had just recently passed his military physical, took a handful and Xanax and went out drinking with several friends; this person did not ever get the opportunity to serve in the military, as he was subsequently found dead in his vehicle the next morning.

Outpatient Treatment

Drug or alcohol rehab services which are offered on an outpatient basis are available to addicted individuals who have circumstances which prevent them from being able to participate in an inpatient treatment facility. An outpatient substance abuse rehabilitation program offers many of the same services as an inpatient program, but allows for flexibility as opposed to an inpatient drug rehab facility where the individual is expected to stay and reside at the rehab facility until treatment is complete. Outpatient drug treatment is also available for those who have already gone through residential or inpatient treatment but require a thorough aftercare and relapse prevention program which will offer additional support and therapy to help them avoid relapse.
