  • Drug Overdose Facts
  • A number of fatal fentanyl overdoses have been caused by time-release fentanyl patches which were prescribed to legitimate users for pain; a defect caused the patch to malfunction causing an excessive amount of the drug to leak and become absorbed by patients, resulting in life-threatening side effects and death in some cases.
  • Amphetamine overdose is rarely fatal but may lead to a number of different complications including psychosis, chest pain, and hypertension.
  • The number of Vicodin overdoses has risen dramatically in the United States, because the drug is much cheaper and some insurance plans do not cover the more expensive prescription pain medications.
  • Hashish users sometimes use the drug as a form of self-medication, particularly for social anxiety.
  • Hashish users can experience impaired coordination and concentration, making activities such as driving a car or operating machinery difficult and dangerous.

Dui/Dwi Offender Programs

DUI/DWI offenders are usually required to enroll in a certain number of hours either in counseling, meetings or a drug or alcohol treatment program. Each state has its own requirements when it comes to retribution for the DUI/DWI offender. Offenders who are considered to be low to moderate DUI/DWI offenders will typically engage in some form of group counseling or therapy. These group meetings are usually held by a professional in the field of addiction recovery or a person with long-term sobriety involved in the Alcoholics or Narcotics Anonymous groups. DUI/DWI offenders considered to be serious offenders will likely have to serve jail time at a minimum before beginning their assigned counseling or alcohol rehabilitation program.
