  • Drug Overdose Facts
  • Drug withdrawal from certain drugs such as benzodiazepines or alcohol can cause life threatening symptoms, and therefore the abrupt discontinuation of any type of drug without medical or professional detox supervision is not recommended.
  • Both physicians and pharmacies are required to maintain careful records of prescribing information including quantity, frequency, and renewal requests because of the illicit diversion of prescription drugs such as OxyContin.
  • A drug overdose describes the ingestion of a drug in quantities greater than have been recommended or are generally practiced; this condition can be extremely dangerous and can ultimately result in death.
  • For opiate addicted individuals in relatively good health, withdrawal from opiates can last up to a week.
  • As with all opiate drugs, there is a high potential for abuse with fentanyl and so it is a Schedule II narcotic drug which is only available by prescription.

Dui/Dwi Offender Programs

DUI/DWI offenders are usually required to attend a specific number of hours either in counseling, meetings or a substance abuse treatment program. Each state has its own requirements when it comes to sentencing for the DUI/DWI offender. Offenders who are deemed low to moderate DUI/DWI offenders will typically engage in some form of group counseling or therapy. These meetings are typically held by a professional in the field of addiction recovery or a person with long-term sobriety involved in the Alcoholics or Narcotics Anonymous groups. DUI/DWI offenders deemed to be serious offenders will likely have to serve jail time at a minimum before beginning their mandatory counseling or substance abuse rehabilitation program.
