  • Drug Overdose Facts
  • Due of the shortage of opium during World War II, the Germans developed Methadone as a narcotic pain killer for troops.
  • Groups which promote self-help are proven to complement and extend the effects of drug rehab, such as Alcoholics Anonymous (AA), Narcotics Anonymous (NA), and Cocaine Anonymous (CA).
  • Chronic heavy drinking can make individuals more susceptible to pneumonia, lung collapse and pulmonary infections.
  • After methadone is ingested it is quickly distributed to body tissues where it is stored and then released into the plasma, a method of storage and release that allows the patient to remain comfortable, free from craving for an extended period of time.
  • Cocaine use may cause heart problems including artery blockages and heart attacks.

Outpatient Treatment

Drug rehab programs which are delivered on an outpatient basis are available to addicted individuals who have circumstances which prevent them from being able to take part in an inpatient rehab program. An outpatient drug and alcohol rehabilitation program provides many of the same services as an inpatient program, but allows for flexibility as opposed to an inpatient drug or alcohol rehab facility where the person is required to remain at the rehab center until treatment has been fully completed. Outpatient drug treatment is also available for those who have already gone through residential or inpatient treatment but also need a thorough aftercare program which will offer further support and treatment to help them avoid relapse.
