Limited Hospitalization/Day Treatment Programs

Partial Hospitalization, also known as "PHP" or Day Treatment, is a form of recovery program which works to treat substance abuse issues and mental health conditions which may be co-occurring. In a PHP program, the person in treatment participates in various recovery activities and techniques during the day and then returns home in the evening. This takes place anywhere from five to seven days a week, depending on the seriousness of the problem. Partial Hospitalization can be helpful for addicted individuals who cannot afford long-term inpatient care, or who are unable to be away from their families for prolonged periods of time. While in Day Treatment, individuals participate in standard counseling and therapy for addiction issues while also addressing mental health problems which could keep them from staying sober once treatment is complete.

Self Pay (Out of Pocket)

Self payment drug and alcohol rehab facilities are a great alternative to other types of treatment facilities i.e. private medical insurance and state funded facilities. Individuals who are able to attend self payment programs pay for their entire rehabilitation process out of pocket. Keep in mind though, this does not mean that they will not have access to financial assistance if needed. It just means that self payment is their primary method of covering the cost of their drug or alcohol treatment program. In order to learn more about self payment programs, contact a substance abuse treatment facility and ask about their payment options. It is beneficial to contact several facilities so that you have an understanding of your choices with regards to treatment options and payment options.

Medicaid Coverage

Medicaid is a type of health insurance which is offered to individuals in certain low-income tax brackets. Eligibility for Medicaid depends greatly on income and other factors including whether or not the person has dependents and if they receive any other financial assistance. Medicaid may possibly even cover the costs associated with drug treatment, and there are many drug and alcohol rehabilitation facilities throughout the country which are covered through Medicaid. Many drug rehabilitation programs which are covered through Medicaid may only provide a limited treatment curriculum and may only deliver such treatment on a short term basis, typically 30 days or less. People who have Medicaid should look for which programs cover the greatest amount of treatment for the most amount of time to reap the full benefits of such a program.

Medicare Coverage

Drug addiction and alcoholism affects many older Americans and seniors, and this issue continues to grow as each year passes. Seniors who are covered through the Medicare program, an insurance plan funded through the federal government for Americans in this age bracket, can use their benefits to receive vital treatment services for substance abuse at a variety of drug treatment programs around the country. Medicare covers both inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation programs, and seniors who are in need of treatment can consult with their primary care physician to choose a treatment program covered by Medicare which would fit his or her particular needs.

Income Based Payment (Sliding Scale)

Paying for drug rehab can be a problem, as all resources have been exhausted because of their addiction. Many drug rehab facilities understand this fact which is why many drug treatment programs around the country offer payment arrangements known as a sliding scale fee. There are several factors put into the equation of determining what the fee will be from person to person, and these factors are based on individual circumstances such as income, cash on hand, living circumstances, the size of one's family etc. Sliding scale fees have been in use for some time as most drug and alcohol rehab facilities would rather find a way to make it work financially so that those that need addiction help can acquire the help they need.

Payment Assistance (based on Facility)

Many drug rehab programs in the United States provide payment assistance to individuals having difficulties with drug or alcohol addiction and want to get help. The person in need of rehabilitation can select a treatment program which ideally fits their situation, meaning the treatment curriculum and design of the program would supply them the best results. The addicted person can then talk to one of the treatment professionals at the drug or alcohol treatment program to discuss what kind of payment assistance options are available or that they qualify for. The financial department in most drug and alcohol treatment programs are more than willing to work with potential clients to get them started by offering payment assistance, and if this is unavailable, treatment professionals will usually work with the individual to find an equivalent or comparable rehab facility which is more affordable or that can offer workable financing options so that they can get the help they so desperately need.
