Outpatient Treatment

Drug or alcohol rehab programs which are delivered on an outpatient basis are readily available to addicted people who have circumstances which prevent them from being able to take part in an inpatient treatment facility. An outpatient drug and alcohol treatment facility offers many of the same services as an inpatient program, but allows for flexibility as opposed to an inpatient drug or alcohol treatment center where the person is required to remain at the rehabilitation center until treatment has been fully completed. Outpatient drug or alcohol rehab is also available for individuals who have completed residential or inpatient treatment but require a thorough aftercare program which will provide further support and therapy to help them remain clean and sober.

Co-Occurring Mental with Substance Abuse Issues

Persons with co-occurring mental and substance abuse disorders must handle both issues in order to become fully rehabilitated. Some people take drugs or alcohol to relieve symptoms of mental health disorders, and some individuals take drugs which then, in turn, brings about symptoms which mimic mental health disorders, such as depression and anxiety. Drug treatment professionals know how to distinguish between the two, and can work with clients to correctly treat real mental health problems in tandem with any other substance abuse treatment that is done with the person. This has proven to be effective in keeping people with mental health issues off of drugs and mentally stable and productive.

Specialized in Hearing Impaired Clients

People can become addicted to drugs or alcohol no matter their handicap, disability or personal physical challenge. This sometimes makes individuals particularly more vulnerable to becoming involved in substance abuse, because of the varying challenges that this can bring about in the individual's life. This is true for those people in the deaf and hearing impaired community as well, and treatment for substance abuse and addiction is sometimes needed. Deaf or hearing impaired individuals will need ASL or other assistance as part of their treatment needs, and there are drug and alcohol rehabilitation facilities available which cater to these needs. Professional treatment counselors who know ASL and can offer other necessary assistance to deaf or hearing impaired substance abusers.

Self Pay (Out of Pocket)

Self payment drug rehabilitation centers are an excellent alternative to other types of rehab centers i.e. private medical insurance and state funded facilities. People who are capable of attending self payment programs pay for their entire treatment process out of pocket. Keep in mind though, this does not mean that they will not have access to financial assistance if needed. It just means that self payment is their primary method of covering the cost of their drug or alcohol rehabilitation program. To learn more about self payment at a specific program, make contact with a drug or alcohol treatment program and ask about their payment options. It is a good idea to contact a number of programs so that you have a comparison of your choices regarding rehab options and payment methods.

Medicaid Coverage

Medicaid is a type of health insurance which is made available to individuals in certain low-income tax brackets. Eligibility for Medicaid is dependent on income and other circumstances including whether or not the individual has dependents and if they receive any other assistance. Medicaid may even cover the costs associated with drug rehabilitation, and there are a lot of drug and alcohol rehab centers throughout the country which are covered through Medicaid. Most drug rehabilitation programs which are covered through Medicaid may only provide a limited treatment curriculum and may only deliver such treatment on a short term basis, typically 30 days or less. People who have Medicaid should research which programs cover the greatest amount of treatment for the most amount of time to acquire the full rewards of such a program.

Medicare Coverage

Drug addiction and alcoholism can effect many older Americans and seniors, and this problem is projected to only worsen in the coming years. Seniors who are covered through the Medicare program, an insurance plan funded through the federal government for Americans in this age bracket, can use their benefits to receive treatment services for addiction at a variety of drug rehab centers around the country. Medicare covers both inpatient and outpatient rehab programs, and seniors who wish to receive treatment can consult with their primary care physician to choose a rehab program covered by Medicare which would be suitable for them.

Private or Personal Health Insurance

When a person is addicted to drugs or alcohol and is looking for help, many effective drug or alcohol treatment facilities accept private health insurance. Whereas some outpatient and short term programs accept private health insurance, far more beneficial drug rehab centers which require an inpatient or residential stay for at least 90 days are also an available option. These rehab facilities which accept private health insurance can vary in terms of treatment curriculum, but those individuals who are covered by private health insurance are fortunate enough to have financial assistance when it comes to attending a drug treatment program. For additional information, speak with with an addiction specialist at a substance abuse treatment program in your area to find out which services your private health insurance will cover.

Income Based Payment (Sliding Scale)

Paying for drug or alcohol rehab can be a problem, as all resources have been exhausted due to the persons drug habit. Many drug rehab facilities understand this reality which is why many drug rehabilitation facilities across the nation offer payment arrangements known as a sliding scale fee. There are various factors put into the equation of determining what the fee will be from person to person, and these factors are based on individual circumstances such as income, cash on hand, living circumstances, the size of one's family etc. Sliding scale fees have been in use for some time as most drug treatment programs would rather find a way to make it work financially so that those suffering with addiction can receive the help they need.
