Substance Abuse Programs

Substance abuse treatment takes place in a wide range of different treatment settings with a variety of different treatment methods. For example, some substance abuse treatment can be performed on an outpatient basis, where the person will typically participate in treatment during the day but is allowed to return home daily. Other substance abuse treatment requires the individual to reside in a hospital or residential facility during the entire course of treatment, which is especially beneficial in handling more severe cases of addiction. Inpatient and residential substance abuse treatment can be done on a short term or long term basis, depending on unique circumstances which can be different for each individual. Most substance abuse treatment will concentrate on getting the individual physically rehabilitated, and then concentrate on underlying psychological and emotional issues.

Outpatient Treatment

Drug or alcohol rehab services which are delivered on an outpatient basis are readily available to addicted people who have circumstances which prevent them from being able to take part in an inpatient rehabilitation center. An outpatient drug treatment facility offers many of the same services as an inpatient program, but allows for flexibility as opposed to an inpatient drug or alcohol rehab program where the individual is required to remain at the rehabilitation center until the treatment process has been fully completed. Outpatient drug or alcohol treatment is also available for individuals who have completed residential or inpatient treatment but also need a thorough aftercare program which will provide further support and therapy to help them avoid relapse.

Residential Short-Term Treatment that is 30 days or less

Residential short-term treatment for substance abuse is a variety ofrehabilitation program where the individual will reside at the facility on an inpatient basis, and which typically requires a stay of 30 days or less. While in residential short-term treatment the person undergoes an intensive but brief course of treatment that commonly includes a supervised detox, counseling, and other forms of therapy which are aimed at helping the person to recover and be able to function without drugs in everyday life once treatment is complete. Residential short-term treatment is not always effective for all instances of addiction, and most will need an aftercare program or additional treatment in a more long-term residential facility.

Residential Long-Term Treatment that is 30 days or longer

Attending a residential long-term treatment program (more than 30 days) is an effective way ofapproaching a severe drug or alcohol addiction problem. This type of drug rehabilitation program is more comprehensive than others that only last a few weeks or those where the person in recovery is free to come and go as they please. Attending a residential long-term treatment program (more than 30 days) means that you as the client will live at the rehab center around the clock while you are in recovery. While offering a more relaxed home-like atmosphere the person has access to counselors and staff at all times. Long term drug or alcohol treatment facilities are a perfect choice for those who have a long history of substance abuse or who have had other unsuccessful attempts at recovery in the past.

Dui/Dwi Offender Programs

DUI/DWI offenders are often required to enroll in a specific number of hours either in counseling, meetings or a drug or alcohol rehabilitation program. Each state has its own requirements when it comes to sentencing for the DUI/DWI offender. Offenders who are regarded as low to moderate DUI/DWI offenders will typically engage in some form of group counseling or therapy. These meetings are usually held by a professional in the field of addiction recovery or a person with long-term sobriety involved in the Alcoholics or Narcotics Anonymous groups. DUI/DWI offenders considered to be serious offenders will likely have to serve jail time at a minimum before beginning their mandatory counseling or substance abuse rehab program.

Private or Personal Health Insurance

If a person is addicted to drugs or alcohol and is seeking help, there are many effective drug or alcohol rehab facilities accept private health insurance. Whereas some outpatient and short term programs accept private health insurance, far more effective drug rehab programs which provide an inpatient or residential stay for at least 90 days are also an available option. These programs which accept private health insurance can vary in terms of treatment curriculum, but those individuals who are covered by private health insurance are fortunate enough to have financial assistance when it comes to paying for a drug or alcohol treatment facility. For additional information, speak with with a treatment professional at a drug or alcohol rehabilitation program in your area to find out which services your private health insurance will cover.

Payment Assistance (based on Facility)

Many drug rehab facilities in the United States provide payment assistance to people suffering with drug or alcohol addiction and want to get help. The person in need of rehabilitation can choose a rehabilitation facility which ideally fits their situation, meaning the treatment curriculum and design of the program will supply them the best results. The addicted person can then talk to one of the treatment professionals at the drug rehabilitation program to go over what kind of payment assistance options are available or that they qualify for. The financial department in most drug treatment facilities are more than willing to work with potential clients to get them started by offering payment assistance, and if this is unavailable, treatment professionals will often work with the individual to locate an equivalent or comparable rehab program which is more affordable or that can provide workable financing options so that they can acquire the rehabilitation they so desperately need.
